Panthers Finish 7th at AMCC Championships

Indiana, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford golf team played the 2nd round of the AMCC Championship Tournament on Tuesday. The Panthers improved their team score by one stroke but dropped a place in the standings as they finished in 7th.

Pitt-Bradford finished the day with a score of 344, bringing their two-day total to 689. Unfortunately, the Panthers were passed by LaRoche, who shot a 334 on the day and passed Pitt-Bradford by 6 strokes. Penn State-Altoona won the team championship with a score of 609.

Individually, the Panthers were paced by Connor Smith, who had a second, strong outing, posting the 9th-best score of the day with an 80. Smith finished the event with a score of 161, which gave him a top-ten finish, tying for 8th place. Brody Kamuda was not able to follow up on his Day 1 score of 81, as he posted a score of 91 today. He finished tied for 27th at 172.

One stroke behind Kamuda was Ben Tubbs, who was able to shave 3 strokes off of his day 1 total with a red-hot finish. Tubbs shot 3-under par over the final 6 holes to shoot an 85. He finished the event a stroke behind Kamuda at 173, tied for 29th.

Curtis Barner and MAx Bizzak were both able to cut strokes off of their first-day performance in round 2. Barner fired a 90 on day 2, besting his first score of 95. He finished in 37th place at 185. After a tough day 1, MAx Bizzak cut 11 strokes off of his score on day 2, posting an 89 to finish in 39th place.

While the AMCC season has come to an end, the Panthers will still have one final tournament to prepare for this fall. They will play in the Region V invite on October 23rd and 24th, which will take place in South Bend, Indiana.
