Panthers Finish 9th at Season Opening Event

Bradford, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford golf team got their season started on Saturday, finishing in 9th place with a score of 331 as they hosted 11 other squads for the Pitt-Bradford Invitational.

The competition was tight as the Panthers were only 10 strokes behind 3rd place Hobart. Penn State-Altoona won the tournament at 304. 

The Panthers had a consistent day as all 5 competitors scored between 82 and 85, Connor Smith led the Panthers, as he carded an 82. That put him in a tie for 23rd. Three of his teammates finished just one stroke behind Smith, as Ben Tubbs, Brody Kamuda and Curtis Barner all finished tied for 28th with a score of 83. Max Bizzak posted an 85, while Andrew Heinze played as an individual and shot a 90.

The Panthers will have 10 days to right the ship, as they will return to action on Tuesday, September 12th when they travel to Buffalo to play in the Hilbert Invitational.
