"Teal There's a Cure" Game Set for Saturday

The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford athletic department, along with national service fraternity Alpha Phi Omega, will be raising awareness for ovarian cancer at Saturday's basketball doubleheader in the KOA Arena through the "Teal There's a Cure" campaign.

The Panthers host D'Youville beginning with the men's game at 2 p.m. with the women's game to follow at 4 p.m.

The athletic department will donate the gate fee to the Evans-Krivak Gynecological Cancer Research Foundation. Free awareness ribbons will also be handed out at the door.

Alpha Phi Omega developed the "Heart to Heart Challenge," which is a dollar-for-dollar matching opportunity. The service organization has pledged to donate up to $500 for the cause if fans are willing to contribute. Alpha Phi Omega members are hoping fans will be up to the challenge so the full match can be achieved.

George and Susan Evans will be on hand for Saturday's doubleheader. The Evanses established the Evans-Krivak Gynecological Cancer Research Fund in honor of Dr. Thomas Krivak, the doctor who treated Susan Evans during her battle with ovarian cancer.

Susan Evans, a retired Bradford Area High School English teacher, is now in remission.  Her husband is a retired journalism professor who spent 29 years teaching at St. Bonaventure University. The Evanses reside in Bradford and have been longtime supporters of Pitt-Bradford.
