Bradford, Pa. -- Bradford, Pa.— Ryan Boyer, a 2020 alum of the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford, has continued his rise through the ranks of professional baseball as the Toronto Blue Jays organization has promoted him to the New Hampshire Fisher Cats of the AA Eastern League.
Boyer was called up to New Hampshire on July 24th. While pitching for the Vancouver Canadians, Boyer made 15 appearances, pitching to a 2.455 ERA. He tallied two wins, two saves, and struck out 29 batters, while walking only 4. Since moving to AA, Boyer has made 3 appearances, tallying 5 innings with a 3.60 ERA.
“This is a great honor for Ryan,” said Pitt-Bradford head coach, Zach Foster, who managed Boyer from 2016-2020 and also reached the same level of professional baseball in his playing career with the Pittsburgh Pirates organization. “We are extremely proud of him here at Pitt-Bradford, and especially within our baseball program. We wish Ryan and his family congratulations and continued good luck.”
Boyer was a member of the Panthers for 5 seasons before using a graduate transfer to pitch at Division I Canisius in 2021. He played with the Milwaukee Milkmen of the American Association of Professional Baseball and was signed to a minor league contract with the Toronto Blue Jays this January.
“This means Ryan is a phone call away from the big leagues,” added Foster. “I know this will fuel his fire even more.”
