Bobby Wyant '06
A native of Franklin, Pa., Bobby played on the baseball team from 2002-2005. Bobby was a business management major and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2006.
Primarily a reliever and position player his first two seasons, Bobby evolved into a dominant starting pitcher his final two years at Pitt-Bradford, establishing several school and AMCC records along the way. As a freshman and a sophomore, he worked out of the back of the bullpen to convert a team-best nine saves, including a school-record five on the 2002 AMCC championship squad. He earned third-team all-conference honors as an outfielder his sophomore season after hitting .389 with three home runs and 26 runs batted in.
As a junior Wyant moved to the rotation where he went 5-5 with a 3.52 earned run average, recording 80 strikeouts in slightly more than 61 innings pitched while limiting opponents to a .216 batting average. On April 14, 2004, he tossed the only perfect game in school history against Lake Erie, retiring all 21 hitters in order. He also hit .341 at the plate to earn second-team all-AMCC recognition as an outfielder.
In his senior season, Wyant put together one of the most dominating performances in both school and AMCC history, going 8-2 on the mound with a 1.99 ERA while leading the Panthers to their third-ever conference championship. His 104 strikeouts in just 68 innings pitched established a new conference record which still stands today. Opponents hit just .179 off him, and his 17 strikeout performance against Frostburg State in the AMCC tournament remains untouched. He was selected to the all AMCC first-team for his efforts.
Wyant holds Pitt-Bradford career records for the lowest earned run average (3.18), most strikeouts per a nine-inning game (12.45), total stikeouts (274), and saves. He ranks in the top 10 in every other statistical category, marking his claim as arguable the greatest pitcher in school history. He was named the AMCC Pitcher of the Week four times in his career, including three times as a senior, and the 2004-05 Pitt Bradford Male Athlete of the Year.
Kristy Zavinski ’07
A native of Warren, Pa., Kristy played on the softball team from 2004 to 2007 and the golf team from 2005 to 2007. Kristy was a sports medicine major and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in 2007.
From the moment she stepped on campus, Kristy quickly established herself as a dual athlete and top competitor. As a golfer, Kristy finished third at the AMCC tournament in 2005 during her junior season. As a senior, she ranked second on the team in scoring average and was the medalist in a match against Ursuline College. She is also a member of the women’s golf team that holds the school record for the lowest team score for a match (385), set on Sept. 22, 2005.
As a freshman in softball, she went 12-3 with a league-low 1.81 earned run average to lead the Panthers to their second consecutive AMCC championship and the ECAC South Regional Final Four, the first postseason appearance in school history. Kristy led the Panthers in wins for the second straight season as a sophomore as Pitt-Bradford won its third-consecutive AMCC title and advanced to the NCAA tournament for the first time ever in school history.
Her junior season ranks as one of the top performances in program history as she won 18 games while posting a 1.43 ERA, both which remain school records, and ranks among the top 10 seasons all-time in AMCC history. The Panthers returned to the NCAA tournament for the second straight season en route to winning a school-best 35 games. As a senior, Kristy helped lead the Panthers to their fourth AMCC title in five years and third consecutive NCAA tournament appearance.
She ended her career as the program’s all-time leader in wins (54), appearances (89), compete games (74), shutouts (13), and innings pitched (526.2). Her teams went 103-50-1 during her career and amassed 51 AMCC wins, the most by any school over that span. She also owns season records for fewest walks allowed per a game (0.42) and shutouts (7), and ranks in top 10 all-time in hits (107) and runs batted in (66).
Her honors include being a four-time all-AMCC selection and five-time AMCC Pitcher of the Week. She was also named the Pitt-Bradford Female Athlete of the Year in both 2005-06 and 2006-07.
