Volleyball Ready to Begin New Campaign

Bradford, Pa. – The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford volleyball team returns to action this weekend, looking to return to the AMCC Tournament for the 7th consecutive season.

The Panthers finished their last campaign 11-16 with a 4-3 record in AMCC play. They were able to secure the 4th seed in the AMCC Tournament but fell to Penn State-Altoona in the opening round of the playoffs.

Pitt-Bradford will be under new leadership this season, as Scott Olson is serving as the interim head coach for the season. Olson joined the program this summer after spending the last 15 years coaching club and scholastic volleyball in Warren County.

The Panthers will utilize an experienced defensive group to lead them to success. Kayla Maslowski returns to lead the back line after she was voted 1st Team All-AMCC as a libero. She led the conference in digs last season with 411, while also leading the team with 34 assists. Sophomores Ruby Smith and Jenna Louser return as the Panthers leading attackers, registering 147 and 93 kills respectively in their debut campaigns. Taylor King and Summer Anderson will provide experience offensively while fellow senior Chloe Bellis takes the reigns at setter.

The Panthers begin their season on Friday, September 1st when they travel to Elmira for a season-opening quad match. They open their home slate on September 5th, when they host Buffalo State. The Panthers will begin AMCC play in October, opening their conference slate with a home game against Penn State-Behrend.

In the annual AMCC Preseason Coaches Poll, the Panthers were predicted to finish tied for third with Mount Aloysius.
