Panthers Take Down Houghton In Four Sets Wednesday

HOUGHTON, N.Y. A-- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's volleyball team picked up a road victory at Houghton in four sets Wednesday.

With the victory, Pitt-Bradford levels its overall record to 5-5 while the decision serves as Houghton's first loss of the season, moving the Highlanders to 5-1.

Houghton grabbed the win in set one, 25-17, but Pitt-Bradford regrouped for a 25-23 win in set two to level the match.

The Panthers then gained the advantage with a 25-19 victory in set three.

In set four, both teams held strong as they would need to go past the regulated 25 points to determine the winner.

In the end, Pitt-Bradford got the best of set four and secured the hard-fought match victory with a 26-24 win.

The final two sets, the Panthers hit .280 in set three and .250 in set four.

Emily Cleveland led the Panthers in kills with 14 on 25 swings with just three errors. Additionally, she had three total service aces to lead the squad.

Kaitlyn Sexton was next in the Panther attack with nine total kills.

As the Panthers' primary setter, Tabitha Walker assisted 28 of the team's 39 total kills.

Defensively, Laura Hildebrand led the Panthers with eight digs while Alayna Seggi and Walker had six digs apiece.

At the net, Sydney Shepherd led the Panthers' blocking effort with three solo blocks and three blocks assisted. 

Katie Rose and Katie Treat each assisted a pair of blocks.

Up next, Pitt-Bradford will head to Wooster for four matches in the Ginny Hunt Kilt Classic, playing four matches split between Friday and Saturday.
