Panthers Sweep Elmira In Home Opener

BRADFORD, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's volleyball team opened the home portion of its schedule with a convincing three-set victory over Elmira Tuesday evening.

Elmira (2-2) held tough with Pitt-Bradford (3-2) through the first set, but the Panthers stormed to dominant victories in the final two sets to secure the home victory.

The two teams combined for a 25-23 outcome in set one before the Panthers took a two-set lead with a 25-11 win in set two.

Then the Panthers came out for the third set and completed the sweep with a dominant 25-7 win to close out the match victory.

Riley Anderson led the team with 10 kills and added 10 digs.

Emily Cleveland and Katie Treat added nine kills apiece.

Laura Hildebrand led the team with 25 digs and Alayna Seggi added 15.

As the Panther setters, Gabby Barnes assisted 22 of the team's kills while Tabitha Walker had 14 assists.

Pitt-Bradford's blockers were a known presence at the net as Treat, Alexandra Segura, Kaitlyn Sexton and Elizabeth Johnson dominated the net.

Up next, Pitt-Bradford will head to Lycoming for four total matches Friday and Saturday.
