No. 3 Pitt-Bradford Heads To Penn State-Behrend To Face No. 2 Mount Aloysius In AMCC Semifinals

BRADFORD, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's volleyball team will take on No. 2 Mount Aloysius in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Championship Tournament Semifinals Saturday at Penn State-Behrend.

The winner of the No. 3 Pitt-Bradford vs. No. 2 Mount Aloysius match will face the winner of No. 4 La Roche vs. No. 1 Penn State-Behrend Sunday for the conference championship match.

Pitt-Bradford advanced to the semifinals after defeating No. 6 Medaille in the AMCC First Round Wednesday at the KOA Arena in straight sets.

Following a tough five-set defeat against eventual AMCC Regular Season Champion Penn State-Behrend on Oct. 16, the Panthers bounced back and have not only won their final four matches but have done so all in straight sets.

In Wednesday's playoff match, Riley Anderson led the team with 13 kills on 39 attempts and Katie Treat knocked eight kills on 16 attempts.

Laura Hildebrand had 20 digs while Anderson had 13 for a double-double.

Payton Orzech assisted 25 of the team's kills and had 10 digs for a double-double as well.

At the net, Elizabeth Johnson had five total assisted blocks to lead the team's blocking effort.

Anderson is the top hitter in the conference, leading the AMCC with 359 total kills and 3.66 kills per set. 

Emily Cleveland is second in the AMCC with 334 total kills, and Treat has emerged as an offensive force as of late with 28 kills in the last three matches.

Distributing the ball to the Panthers' hitters is Orzech, leading the AMCC with 9.58 assists per set and 939 total assists.

Defensively, Pitt-Bradford owns three of the top five blockers in the conference, with Alexandra Segura topping the conference with 0.98 blocks per set, Treat holding the third-best blocks per set average at 0.88 and Johnson close behind with 0.73 blocks per set.

Hildebrand leads the AMCC with 583 total digs and is third in the conference with 5.35 digs per set.

The Mounties picked up the No. 2 seed in the AMCC Tournament after tying with Penn State-Behrend atop the conference at 8-1 in AMCC action. Mount Aloysius' lone conference loss came against the Lions.

Pitt-Bradford and Mount Aloysius matched up in the second game of the AMCC Quad Match at the KOA Arena on the first day of AMCC action on Sept. 22. The Mounties came out on top in four sets, led by 14 kills from Machala Gibbons.

This season, the Mounties have been led by middle hitter Sarah Fisher, whose 119 kills and .429 hitting percentage in conference play are second most in the AMCC. The Mounties' libero Kylee Clawson ranks second in the conference with 5.53 digs per set against conference opponents.

As a team, the Mounties lead the AMCC with 404 total kills and 12.63 kills per set in conference play. Their .258 hitting percentage in conference play is second-best in the AMCC.

Saturday's semifinal match will be the second of the day and is set for a start time around 4:30 p.m.
