BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's volleyball team picked up its third-straight Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference win Wednesday, earning a road victory at Medaille in straight sets.
With the win, Pitt-Bradford improves to 14-9 overall and 4-1 in AMCC action, while Medaille falls to 5-16, 2-3 AMCC. The Panthers remain in third place in the conference, one game back from Penn State-Behrend in second place (5-0).
"To go in and take this win in three straight sets in a tough environment against a solid Medaille team was really great for us," Head Coach Tom Roof said. "Katie Treat had an outstanding game, coming through with big points at key moments. When we get that from her, it makes us all the more dangerous. And Riley had a really nice game, getting 11 kills when teams know she's one of our go-to players and they double up with a big block attempt on her. She's really developed into a smart player. In all, this was a really nice win against a good team."
Riley Anderson knocked a game-high 11 kills. Katie Treat had eight kills while Emily Cleveland had seven.
Payton Orzech assisted 26 of the team's 35 total kills.
Anderson also led the team with 10 digs for a double-double.
Laura Hildebrand had nine digs while Alexis Constantino had eight.
The Panthers had a big night at the net, recording 10 assisted blocks and a pair solo.
Elizabeth Johnson assisted three blocks while Alexandra Segura and Treat each had a solo block.
The two teams battled to a competitive first set.
Neither team had a solid hold on the lead until the Panthers scored seven of the last 10 total points to win, 25-20.
The Panthers tightened up in set two, hitting a .250 percentage and taking the win by an identical score of 25-20.
Pitt-Bradford had its best set hitting in the third, knocking 13 kills and committing just three errors on 33 attempts for a .303 percentage.
Tight early on, the Panthers went on a run that eventually gave them a 21-10 lead.
Eventually, a kill from Orzech sealed the set win and gave Pitt-Bradford the three-set match victory.
Up next, Pitt-Bradford will pause conference play and head to Frostburg State Saturday for a tri-match against the host and York (Pa.). The Panthers' next conference action will be Tuesday hosting Penn State-Behrend.
