BRADFORD, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's volleyball team hosted SUNY Canton and Thiel for a non-conference tri-match at the KOA Arena Saturday.

Pitt-Bradford (13-9) started the day defeating SUNY Canton before falling to Thiel in five sets to close out the day.

"We started the day playing really well, but we lost it a bit as the day went on," Head Coach Tom Roof said. "We're ok with going 1-1 today, learning a lot from tough matches against good teams in a non-conference setting. But we didn't do the little things well against Thiel. Offensively we were there, but defensively, we still have to clean some stuff up."

Prior to the start of the first match, Pitt-Bradford honored the Panthers' graduates, Katie Sedon and Payton Orzech.

Pitt-Bradford started out slow, dropping the day's first set, 25-23, but would bounce back in strong form, taking the next set 25-13.

With the match tied at a set apiece, the Panthers gained the advantage with a powerful third set, 25-11. The Panthers knocked 11 kills on just 23 attempts in the frame.

The two teams settled in and put together a competitive fourth set, trading the lead for much of it.

But, a balanced hitting effort from Riley Anderson, Emily Cleveland and Katie Treat, the Panthers picked up the tough 25-23 win to secure the match victory.

Anderson put together a 20-20 performance of 20 kills and 25 digs to lead the Panthers.

Cleveland also knocked 12 kills.

Orzech assisted 47 of the team's kills and was also credited with 13 digs for a double-double.

Pitt-Bradford had a big presence at the net. Treat led the Panthers with seven blocks assisted and Elizabeth Johnson assisted six blocks.

Immediately following, the Panthers had a break while SUNY Canton and Thiel played each other.

The Panthers took the first set against in dominant fashion, 25-7.

But Thiel bounced back, taking the second set 25-18.

The two teams worked a competitive pivotal third set, and the Panthers took care of business, 25-23, winning the last four points of the set capped by a kill from Treat.

However, Thiel took the fourth set to extend the match to a decisive fifth set.

The Tomcats stayed hot and took the 15-12 win in the set.

Cleveland and Treat led the team with 14 kills and Anderson had 13.

Anderson also had 11 digs for a double-double.

Orzech logged 48 assists and 14 digs for a double-double once again. 

Laura Hildebrand led the team with 22 digs.

Up next, Pitt-Bradford will resume AMCC action and hit the road to take on Medaille Wednesday.
