Panthers Head To Buffalo State For Midweek Non-Conference Match

BRADFORD, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's volleyball team will be back in action Wednesday at Buffalo State for a non-conference matchup.

The Panthers enter the week with an overall winning mark of 9-8, tied with Penn State-Behrend with the most wins in the conference.

Pitt-Bradford is coming off a busy weekend in which it opened Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference action hosting Hilbert, La Roche and Mount Aloysius for a quad match.

The Panthers opened the day battling La Roche and took care of business in three sets.

Already with a conference win under their belt, the Panthers took on Mount Aloysius in the second game of the afternoon and fell to the tough Mounties, 3-1.

Against La Roche, the Panthers won the first set in dominant fashion, 25-10, then won set two, 25-18.

Pitt-Bradford closed the book on its first AMCC victory by winning the third set, 25-20, and knocking 19 kills.

Riley Anderson hammered a game-high 13 kills and Emily Cleveland was close behind with 12. Katie Treat had eight kills and Elizabeth Johnson contributed seven.

Payton Orzech assisted 36 of the team's kills.

Laura Hildebrand had 20 digs as the Panthers' libero.

At the net, the Panthers had five solo blocks and eight assisted, highlighted by two solo blocks each from Anderson and Alexandra Segura and two assisted by Johnson, Orzech and Anderson.

Orzech and Anderson recorded 12 digs apiece for a double-double.

The second game of the day was much different, as the Mounties came out and took the first set, 25-16.

Pitt-Bradford battled back, though, and took the second set.

Segura put the exclamation point on the set win with an emphatic solo block that set off the KOA Arena crowd.

But the Mounties would not falter, bouncing back with 25-17 win in the third set.

Mount Aloysius completed the victory to improve to 2-0 on the day with a 25-13 win in the fourth set.

The Panthers had a tough time hitting, but Cleveland managed nine kills and Anderson had eight.

Orzech assisted 31 and had 20 digs for her second double-double of the day. 

Hildebrand had 22 digs to lead the team.

At the net, Segura totaled three solo blocks and assisted a pair, while Faith Williams also assisted two.

After action at Buffalo State, the Panthers will welcome resume conference play Saturday hosting Franciscan at 1 p.m.
