Riley Anderson Named AMCC Player of the Week

Official AMCC Release

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- Sophomore Riley Anderson of the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's volleyball team has been named the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Player of the Week for her performance during the period of Sept. 10-16, conference officials announced Monday.

"This is well-deserved recognition for Riley this week," Head Coach Tom Roof said. "She played a tremendous tournament, doing it all for us. She just doesn't come off the court. Riley's becoming really good at reading her blockers and knowing what to do with the ball. She hit the ball really well this weekend. And defensively, she is just solid. She's a great all-around player and this is an awesome honor for her."

The Panthers played in the tough Ginny Hunt Kilt Classic at Wooster College this weekend, going 2-2 at the event while earning wins against Bethany and Oberlin. Pitt-Bradford also defeated Houghton earlier in the week at home.

Anderson put together a big week hitting for the Panthers, logging 4.42 kills per set and 84 total.

She hit at a .225 percentage and twice knocked at least 20 kills in a single match, putting 20 balls home against Bethany and recording 22 kills against Wooster.

Anderson averaged 4.7 points per set in the five matches this week.

In addition, the Cresson, Pa., native was a vital part of the Panther defense as she registered 72 total digs on the week.

Pitt-Bradford will head to Elmira for a match Monday before starting conference action Saturday as the Panthers host an AMCC Quad.
