Win Over Oberlin Highlights Day Two Of Ginny Hunt Kilt Classic

WOOSTER, Ohio -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's volleyball team split its final two games in the Ginny Hunt Kilt Classic at Wooster College Saturday afternoon.

The Panthers started out the day with a thrilling comeback win against Oberlin before falling in four sets to the tough host Wooster.

"We had a couple good performances against strong teams," Head Coach Tom Roof said. "We're creating a lot of chances for ourselves because our defense is playing so well now. Riley and Emily continue to play really well for us and we got a lot of help from Katie Rose and Sydney Shepherd against Oberlin."

In all, the Panthers went 2-2 in its four matches at Wooster. They are now an even 7-7 on the season and have won six of their last eight matches.

Laura Hildebrand was named to the All-Tournament Team, her second such honor so far this season.

Against Oberlin, the Panthers picked up a win in the first set, then narrowly dropped the second set, 26-24, before falling a set behind after a loss in the third.

Pitt-Bradford then tied it up with a victory in the fourth set, 25-20, and kept the momentum rolling to a 15-11 win in the decisive fifth set.

Riley Anderson and Emily Cleveland led the team with nine kills each. Elizabeth Johnson and Katie Treat had six kills apiece, while Rose and Shephard had five apiece.

Payton Orzech logged 41 assists.

Hildebrand led the team with 36 digs.

Down one set against Wooster, the Panthers gutted out a 30-28 victory in the second set to tie it up.

Wooster eventually went onto win the next two sets to complete the victory.

Anderson and Cleveland made up a majority of the Panthers' attack, knocking 22 kills apiece. 

Orzech assisted 48 of the Panthers' kills.

On the Panthers' defense, Hildebrand led the way with 28 digs.

Anderson added 13 digs and Orzech had 11 as the duo logged double-doubles.

Pitt-Bradford will play its final match before AMCC action at Elmira Monday.
