Panthers Look For Third-Straight AMCC Win With Trip To Franciscan Saturday

BRADFORD, Pa. – The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's volleyball team will head to Franciscan for its fourth Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference match of the season Saturday.

The Panthers are coming off a thrilling win, beating Penn State-Behrend on the road in straight sets Wednesday for the team's first win at PSB since Sept. 28, 2011.

Senior Erin Fagan took the lead for the Panthers and helped them pull away in the second set. She earned six blocks and a pair of timely kills. 

Emily Cleveland and Riley Anderson had 10 kills apiece, while Payton Orzech assisted 21.

Laura Hildebrand had 11 digs while Orzech had seven.

The win was the Panthers' second AMCC victory of the season and they hold a 2-1 conference record heading into the weekend, which is tied with Mount Aloysius, Franciscan and Medaille, and one game behind the 3-0 Penn State-Altoona. 

Cleveland now holds the second-most kills in the conference with 146 and has the fifth-best kills per set mark at 2.61.

Hildebrand sits fourth in the conference with 270 digs and 4.74 per set. 

Fagan's .233 hitting percentage in the third-best in the conference and she has the second-best blocks per set mark at 0.76.

Katie Treat immediately follows Fagan on the conference blocks per set list with 0.70, and Elizabeth Johnson is fifth at 0.60.

Anderson has one of the toughest serves in the AMCC as she knocks 0.45 service aces per set.

Saturday's action will begin at 1 p.m.

  • The Franciscan Barons welcome the Panthers with a 3-10 overall record while holding a tie with the Panthers in the AMCC standings at 2-1 in conference play.
  • Franciscan swept its AMCC Quad matches last weekend, topping Hilbert, 3-0, and Medaille, 3-2. The Barons most recently lost to Penn State-Altoona in five sets on Wednesday.
  • Maria Ciola is the team's top hitter with 114 total kills. Her 2.78 kills per set ranks third in the conference. Sydney Riley is the top setter in the AMCC as she has assisted 184 kills for 7.36 per set, the top mark in the conference.
  • Maddy Demos leads the team with 173 digs and Ciola has 103 so far this season.
