WOOSTER, Ohio -- Capital defeated The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's volleyball team in straight sets Friday night in the Panthers' first action of the 2017 Ginny Hunt Kilt Classic at Wooster College.

"I thought we played pretty well once we got our momentum going at the end of the first set and into the second set," Head Coach Tom Roof said. "But in the end, we just didn't generate enough scoring against this great team. The effort and heart are there, though. We just have to put it together."

After a clean set-one victory by Capital, the two teams went back-and-forth for a competitive second set.

With the Panthers ahead, 9-6, Capital then scored four straight points to go up, 10-9.

The two teams traded the lead, and eventually, a service ace from Payton Orzech knotted the score at 22-22.

A Capital attack error gave Pitt-Bradford a 23-22 lead, but three-straight Capital points sealed the set-two win.

In set three, Capital got off to an early lead and would eventually hold on to secure the match win.

For the Panthers, Riley Anderson led the way with six kills and Emily Cleveland added five.

Anderson also led Pitt-Bradford will 11 digs while Orzech had eight of her own.

Orzech led the Panthers with 13 assists.

Pitt-Bradford will play its second and final day's worth of action in the tournament Saturday, playing the host Wooster at 10:30 a.m. before wrapping up against Frostburg State at 12:30 p.m.
