Pitt-Bradford Suffers Setbacks in Final Two Games of Rochester Tournament

ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's volleyball team fell in both of its final games in the Rochester Tournament held at the University of Rochester, losing in straight sets to Hamilton in the morning's action and then 3-1 in the final game of the tournament vs. SUNY Poly.

The Panthers went into the morning coming off a pair of thrilling wins in the first day of the tournament.

"We were flat today compared to yesterday, and we played some pretty tough teams," Head Coach Tom Roof said. "We struggled defensively, so it was tough to get any offense going. It was another big learning experience for this young team."

In the morning's game, the Panthers scored 18 points in the first set, the most they'd get out of the three sets.

Emily Cleveland knocked a team-best seven kills while Riley Anderson had six. Laura Hildebrand had 15 digs and Payton Orzech had 10 assists. Cleveland and Katie Treat each assisted three blocks.

In game two, the Panthers grabbed the first set, 25-18, but then dropped the next two.

Set four saw a tough battle on both sides. Down 15-5, the Panthers stormed back to bring the score to 18-17 in favor of SUNY Poly.

Pitt-Bradford hung around and eventually took a 21-20 lead. But SUNY Poly outscored the Panthers, 5-1, the rest of the way to secure the victory.

In the contest, Cleveland led the game with 19 kills on 31 attempts. Erin Fagan added eight of her own. Orzech had 21 assists and 18 digs, and Hildebrand dug 13.

For her performance during the four games, Cleveland was named to the All-Tournament Team.

On Monday, the Panthers will host a JV game as Penn State-Dubois comes to the KOA Arena. The next official action will be on Wednesday as the team heads to Geneseo.
