Panthers Defeat Hilbert, Reach 20-Win Plateau

The Pitt-Bradford volleyball team defeated Hilbert 3-1 Tuesday night and joined elite company in doing so.

With the victory, Pitt-Bradford improves to 20-5 on the season and becomes just the second team in school history to win 20 matches, joining the 2010 team that won a record 24 contests.

Defeating Hilbert by scores of 25-16, 24-26, 25-15, 25-20, the Panthers improved to 7-0 against league opponents and moved one step closer to securing the top overall seed for the postseason tournament.

Pitt-Bradford currently holds a one-game lead in the standings over Penn State Altoona and the all-important tie-breaker.

Erin Fagan paced the attack with a career-high 15 kills, Kirsten Platz chipped in with 13 and Rose Thacker added nine. Alex Dhayer and Christina Rauh had two aces each, and Rauh totaled 33 assists.

Defensively, Emily Reitz logged 13 digs, Mandy Finch had 12 and Brianna Majot added 10. Rauh registered 11 digs to complete her 10th double-double of the season, and Fagan also notched a double-double, collecting 10 digs.

Pitt-Bradford will host La Roche Saturday at 1 p.m. in its final home regular season match. It is also Senior Day for Megan Geary, Rauh and Finch, who will be honored prior to the start of the match for their career accomplishments.
