Kirsten Platz Named AMCC Player of the Week

Pitt-Bradford volleyball player Kirsten Platz has been named Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Player of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.

Platz, a sophomore middle hitter, played a big role in the Panthers winning three of four matches at the Moravian Greyhound Premiere Invitational to open the 2016 campaign. She recorded double-digit kills in all four matches and her .526 hitting percentage currently leads the AMCC. Her 3.21 kills per set ranks third overall in the league.

In the season opening win over Ursinus, Platz tied a career-high with eight blocks, a feat she would later match against Moravian to close out the weekend. She finished the tournament with 19 total blocks and added nine service aces.

It marks the first time in her career the Erie, Pa., native has received the conference's weekly honor.

Platz and the Pitt-Bradford volleyball team will next compete in the Vassar Invitational, which is set to begin Friday in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.
