Allegheny Edges Pitt-Bradford in Five Sets

MEADVILLE, Pa. – The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford volleyball team came up just short in a 3-2 loss (27-25, 27-29, 27-25, 12-25, 9-15) at Allegheny on Wednesday night.

"It's really a disappointing loss for us," said Pitt-Bradford head coach Tom Roof. "It was especially disappointing, because we had a big lead in the second set and let them rally to beat us down the stretch. I was happy that we bounced back with a win in the third set to take a 2-1 lead, but we just couldn't finish it off."

Kirsten Platz led the Pitt-Bradford attack with 22 kills while Mandy Finch followed with 11 kills and 24 digs. Christina Rauh added 49 assists and a team-high 29 digs, and Alexis Dhayer chipped in with nine kills and 20 digs in the loss.

"We have to start finding ways to win these five set games going into conference play, because we really want to get off to a good start this weekend," Roof said. "Hopefully we can learn from these tough five set losses and move forward starting right now."

Pitt-Bradford is set to open AMCC play Saturday afternoon against Mt. Aloysius and Pitt-Greensburg as part of a quad match in the KOA Arena, beginning at 1 p.m.
