Panthers Tennis To Host Penn State-Behrend On New Home Courts Friday

BRADFORD, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford tennis teams will usher in a new era Friday as they host Penn State-Behrend on the newly renovated outdoor courts at the Kessel Athletic Complex.

The Panthers women's team is coming off a 6-3 defeat at La Roche last Friday.

The Panthers picked up their first points of the evening in doubles action as the No. 3 team of Aaliyah Smith and Abbie Buerkle picked up a convincing 8-2 victory.

Katelyn Wells and Jessica Jordan each picked up singles victories.

On the season, Wells leads the team with a 3-2 overall record in singles action. 

The doubles duo of Smith and Buerkle has found the most success for Pitt-Bradford, posting a 3-1 mark.

On the men's side, Pitt-Bradford will be in action for the first time since opening AMCC action against conference powerhouse Franciscan On Sept. 23.

The squad opened its season on Sept. 7 against Alfred and narrowly fell 5-4.

The top team of Jacob Volz and Matthew Dennis earned a 7-5 win, and the No. 2 duo of Drew Patla and Jeffrey Kocjancic grabbed the victory with the same score.

Volz and Patla went onto pick up wins in singles action, Patla's in comeback fashion.

After Friday's action, both Panthers teams will head to Penn State-Altoona to continue AMCC action.

Friday's match on the new courts will begin at 5 p.m.
