Panthers Fall At La Roche Friday Evening

PITTSBURGH -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's tennis team fell at La Roche, 6-3, Friday evening in an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference match at the Oxford Club.

"Jessie decided points on her own," Head Coach Susan Schenfield said. "She closed on rallies, either at the net or with a put-away forehand, as soon as she had the advantage."

The Panthers picked up their first points of the evening in doubles action as the No. 3 team of Aaliyah Smith and Abbie Buerkle picked up a convincing 8-2 victory.

The No. 1 team of Maya Bingaman and Jessica Jordan worked a tight matchup but narrowly fell, 8-6.

In singles action, Jessica Jordan held control of the match as she earned the win in the No. 4 spot, 6-2, 6-2.

Katelyn Wells fought hard for her No. 5 singles win, dropping the first set narrowly, 6-7 (2), but then winning the second convincingly, 6-2, before pulling out a tough win in the third, 10-7.

Up next, the Panthers will host Penn State-Behrend Friday, Oct. 5 for the first action on the newly renovated outdoor tennis courts at the Kessel Athletic Complex.
