Panthers Tennis Back In Action Sunday At Franciscan

BRADFORD, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford tennis programs will be back in action Sunday at Franciscan.

For the Panthers' men's team, it'll be their first conference action of the 2018-19 season.

Pitt-Bradford's last action was its season opener in which the Panthers narrowly fell, 5-4, to Alfred.

In doubles, the top two teams for the Panthers picked up victories.

The top team of Jacob Volz and Matthew Dennis earned a 7-5 win, and the No. 2 duo of Drew Patla and Jeffrey Kocjancic grabbed the victory with the same score.

Volz and Patla went onto pick up wins in singles action, Patla's in comeback fashion.

The Franciscan men's team will open its 2018-19 season at Allegheny Saturday.

For the Pitt-Bradford women, their most recent action came at Medaille Tuesday. 

Pitt-Bradford first picked up a victory in doubles action, as the No. 3 team of Aaliyah Smith and Abbie Buerkle picked up the 8-5 win.

The No. 1 doubles matchup featuring Maya Bingaman and Divya Guwalani finished with a competitive score of 8-4.

The other victory of the evening came in No. 2 singles as Elanie Roberts won in three sets, 4-6, 6-1, 11-9.

The Franciscan women's team is undefeated at 5-0 so far this season.

Sunday's action is set for a 1 p.m. start.
