Women’s Tennis falls 7-2 at Greensburg

GREENSBURG, Pa. – The Pitt-Bradford women's tennis team suffered a 7-2 defeat at conference-foe Pitt-Greensburg on Saturday evening.

Pitt-Bradford (3-5, 3-3) struggled during doubles play, and as a result, fell in an early 3-0 hole.

Freshman Alexa Holleran and freshman Alexandra Claherty paired together to compete in the top doubles flight. The two dropped their match 8-1. Senior Jamie VanAlstine and junior Emily Fowkes competed in the second flight and fell 8-0, while sophomore Amy Thomas and freshman Margaret Hansen dropped game three, 8-3.

In singles, Holleran represented Pitt-Bradford in the No. 1 flight and suffered a 6-0, 6-0 defeat. Claherty put the Panthers on the board with her win in game two, 6-4, 6-4. In the third flight, Fowkes fell 6-0, 6-0, and Hansen dropped game four 6-2, 6-2.

VanAlstine suffered a 6-4, 6-0 defeat in the fifth match, while Thomas found a way to give the Panthers their second win in the final game, 6-1, 7-5.

Pitt-Bradford is back on the court on Sunday, Sept. 28. The Panthers travel to face Keuka in Keuka Park, N.Y., for a match at 1 p.m.
