Women’s Tennis falls 6-3 to Penn State Altoona

BRADFORD, N.Y. – The women's tennis team suffered a conference loss, 6-3, to Penn State Altoona on Sunday afternoon.

Pitt-Bradford (2-4) struggled during the opening doubles matches and could never recover later in the contest.

Senior Shaina Reddinger and freshman Alexa Holleran handled the top flight for the Panthers in doubles play and fell to the Lions 8-4. Junior Emily Fowkes and senior Jamie VanAlstine claimed the second flight for the Panthers, 8-6. Sophomore Amy Thomas and freshman Margaret Hansen dropped the final flight, 8-5.

In singles play, Holleran, playing in the top flight, fell to Michelle Colucci 6-1, 7-5. In the second game, Reddinger dropped her contest 6-0, 6-0. Fowkes fell in game three, 6-1, 5-7, while Hansen grabbed the first singles win for the Panthers in the fourth flight, 6-2, 6-1.

The No. 5 flight, consisting of VanAlstine and Altoona's Olivia Brown, saw VanAlstine win 7-4, 7-5. The sixth and final game saw Thomas drop her singles match, 8-6, 6-2.

Pitt-Bradford returns to action on Tuesday, Sept. 23. The Panthers face Medaille at 4 p.m.  in Buffalo, N.Y.
