Women’s Tennis edged by Keuka, 6-3

KEUKA PARK, N. Y. – The Pitt-Bradford women's tennis team suffered a 6-3 defeat on the road Sunday afternoon versus Keuka.

Pitt-Bradford (3-6, 3-3) struggled with consistency during the singles portion of the match that proved costly for the Panthers in the end.

Freshman Alexa Holleran and senior Shaina Reddinger paired together to compete in the top doubles flight. The two grabbed an early victory for the Panthers with an 8-4 win.

The No. 2 flight consisted of senior Jamie VanAlstine and junior Emily Fowkes. Keuka stole the victory over this pair by a score of 8-6. In the final doubles match, sophomore Amy Thomas and freshman Margaret Hansen suffered an 8-1 defeat.

In singles, Holleran fell 6-1, 6-4, 6-0 in the first game to give the Storm a 3-1 advantage. Reddinger, playing in the second game, fell 6-0, 6-3. In the third flight, Fowkes defeated Shelley Morseman 6-2, 6-2, to keep the Panthers alive.

Hansen dropped game four by a score of 6-4, 6-2, while VanAlstine suffered a 6-2, 6-4 defeat in the fifth game. Thomas grabbed the final victory for the Panthers in the sixth singles game with a 6-3, 6-1 defeat over Keuka's Amanda Murray.

Pitt-Bradford returns to action on Oct. 1. The Panthers travel to Erie, Pa., to take on Penn State Behrend in a 6 p.m. match.
