BRADFORD, Pa. – The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford swim teams will host Wells College and Buffalo State for a tri-meet at the Paul C. Duke III Aquatic Center Saturday.
This will be the Panthers' first action since the mid-season meet at Fredonia from Dec 1-3 and the first home meet since Oct. 28.
The Pitt-Bradford men's team finished in fifth-place out of nine competing teams at Fredonia.
In doing so, the Panthers broke seven total school records: 50-freestyle: Jared Schwab -- 21.73; 800-freestyle relay: Benjamin Koss, Carey Behm, Nicholas Boyd and Lucas Cerchiaro -- 7:16.62; 200-freestyle: Benjamin Koss -- 1:44.22; 400-IM: Cerchiaro -- 4:15.40; 100-backstroke: Schwab -- 52.57; 200-medley relay: Schwab, Frederick, Cerchiaro and Benjamin Koss -- 1:37.49; 400-freestyle relay: Cerchiaro, Behm, Benjamin Koss and Corey Koss -- 3:15.73
The Pitt-Bradford women's team finished ninth at Fredonia but saw much success.
On the first day of action, the women's 800-freestyle relay team of Kayla Broad, Beyleigh Duda, Danica Andrews and Jillian Wright each earned lifetime bests as part of the event, timing in at 9:33.32.
In Saturday's action, Wright finished the 'B' final on the 400-IM in 12th with a time of 5:22.97. The Pitt-Bradford women's 200-medley relay also grabbed 18 points toward the team's total as Broad, Wright, Duda and Andrews finished with a time of 2:09.59.
On Sunday, Wright scored for the Panthers women's team in the 200-breaststroke. Wright finished 12th with a time of 2:44.54, competing in the 'B' final.
Wells men's team has competed in six events this season and the women's team has competed seven times with both teams picking up one victory apiece. Both have been idle since Dec. 2.
Buffalo State men's and women's swimming have competed in seven meets so far this season with the men's team winning three and the women's team picking up one victory. Saturday's meet will be the first action since an exhibition meet on Dec. 21.
Saturday's meet was set to begin at 1 p.m. but has been pushed back to a 4 p.m. start due to severe weather (updated 3:36 p.m., 1/12/18).
