Panthers Unable to Stay with Lions in 2nd Half, Fall 5-0

Bradford, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's soccer team hit the road on Saturday afternoon, falling to Penn State-Altoona 5-0.

The Panthers were not able to hold off their hosts for long, as the Lions scored on their second shot of the game after 6 minutes of action. They were able to force two saves from Alyssa Andersen before the Panthers took their first shot of the game, as Ainslie Gardner put an effort on target. It was the only shot the Panthers could muster in the half, but Andersen and the Panther defense worked hard to limit the Lions for the remainder of the half, keeping them off the board.

Andersen made three early saves after the break before the hosts doubled their lead with a goal in the 53rd. The Panthers were able to rebuff the Lions for the next 15 minutes but saw the Lions score twice in a 2-minute span to extend their lead to 4. Andersen went on to make five saves over the final 20 minutes of play, allowing one final goal in the 84th.

Alyssa Andersen finished the contest with 20 saves, making 9 in the first stanza, and 11 in the second. The Panthers took two shots in the game. Ainslie Gardner put hers on target, while Delaney Stowe took one that missed the mark.

The loss drops the Panthers to 0-15 on the season, with an 0-8 record in conference play. Their season will come to an end on Tuesday, as they will travel to Wells for the final game of the season. Kickoff is set for 5:00 p.m. at Wells College Turf Field.
