Panthers Unable to Catch Redhawks, Fall 5-0

Pittsburgh, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford took on the La Roche Redhawks in an AMCC matchup on Saturday, falling 5-0 in Pittsburgh.

Pitt-Bradford's defense was under attack early, as La Roche took the first 8 shots of the game. Alyssa Anderson made three early saves, and the hosts missed the net on 3 more opportunities but were able to open the scoring in the 19th minute. The Panthers responded well, as they were able to move into the offensive zone and Makartnee Mortimer put an effort on target and forced a save by the LaRoche goalkeeper.

La Roche doubled their lead in the 27th minute and then looked like they would add a third minutes later, but the Panthers' defense was able to clear the ball off the line to keep the deficit at two. Andersen made two more saves over the final 20 minutes of the half, but could not hold off the La Roche attack. The Redhawks scored their third goal of the half with just over two minutes until the break.

The hosts continued their attack after halftime and were able to increase their lead to 4 with an own goal in the 60th minute, and then added a fifth goal ten minutes later. The Panthers were able to get their second shot on goal after the 5th score, as Delaney Stowe put a shot on goal within a minute after the restart.

Alyssa Andersen made 7 saves for the Panthers in the loss. She leads the AMCC in the category. The Panthers were able to find enough room for two shots, as Makartnee Mortimer and Delaney Stowe each put a shot on goal.
