Panthers Drop Conference Opener

Panthers Drop Conference Opener

Bradford, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's soccer team opened their AMCC schedule on Sunday afternoon, falling to Pitt-Greensburg 9-0.

The Panthers fell behind the defending AMCC champions immediately as the Bobcats scored twice within the first four minutes of play. They added two more goals on headed corners in the 15th and 32nd minutes, before scoring a 5th first-half goal in the 34th. Alyssa Anderson and the Panther defense faced near-constant pressure, as the Panther keeper made 6 additional saves in the half.

The Panthers were able to limit the Bobcats' chances in the 2nd half, before allowing a few goals as the game neared its end. They kept Pitt-Greensburg out of the goal for the first 27 minutes of the half before they added a 6th. The visitors continued their pressure, scoring three more times in the final 7 minutes of the game.

Alyssa Anderson made 10 saves for the Panthers in the loss. The Panthers were unable to push their possession deep into the Pitt-Greensburg half and were unable to find enough space for a shot in the game.

The Panthers fall to 0-7 on the season and are now 0-1 in AMCC play. They will return to action on Tuesday, September 26th, when they travel to Alfred State for another conference matchup. The game is scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m.
