Panthers Blanked by Lions

Altoona, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's soccer team fell to Penn State-Altoona 4-0 on Saturday.

The Panthers were able to withstand early attacks from the hosts but were unable to keep the Lions off the board for long as they opened the scoring in the 10th minute. After the restart, the Lions continued their attack, scoring the second goal just over 2 minutes later. The Panthers successfully defended 4 Penn State-Altoona corners and Sadie Wood saved a pair of shots before Alannah Allen registered the first Panther shot of the game.

Emily Goetz was able to put a shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but it was only a short respite, as the hosts regained control and forced Sadie Wood into 5 more 1st half-saves. The last save came in the 43rd minute when Wood was able to save a penalty kick, however, the Panthers were unable to clear the rebound, and the Lions pounced on it to score the third goal of the game.

Wood made two more early saves as the second half began before Penn State Altoona scored for the fourth time in the 58th minute. Wood made 7 more saves in the second half to keep the score 4-0. Mia Camps was able to take two shots in the second half, both missing the target.

Emily Goetz and Mia Camps each registered 2 shots for Pitt-Bradford, with Goetz putting one on goal. Sadie Wood made 17 saves in the loss.

The Panthers fall to 0-14 with the loss to the Lions. They will play their final game of the season on Tuesday, as they travel to Penn State-Behrend for a game beginning at 7:00 p.m.
