Panthers Drop Match at Alfred State

Alfred, N.Y. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's soccer team traveled to Alfred N.Y. for an AMCC matchup that was forced to move from Bradford due to inclement weather and deteriorating field conditions. The Panthers took on Alfred State, falling 6-0 to the Panthers.

The Panthers' goal was under attack immediately as Alfred state put the first effort towards goal in the 3rdminute and then opened the scoring in the 4th. Emily Goetz broke the momentum in the 8th, sending a free kick just over the bar, but it was only a short respite as the Pioneers doubled their lead in the 21st. Alfred State added their third goal in the 37th minute before Pitt-Bradford was able to put their first shot on goal in the 43rd. 

Sadie Wood made 4 early second-half saves before Alannah Allen was able to register the Panthers' first shot on goal in the 55th. The momentum did not stay with the Panthers for long as the Pioneers scored in the 55th minute and added their 5th of the game in the 60th. Alfred State scored the 6th goal in the 83rd before Goetz forced a final save from the Pioneer goalkeeper in the 83rd minute. 

Sadie Wood made 15 saves in the game for the Panthers. Emily Goetz led the attack with 3 shots, including 2 on goal. Alannah Allen also registered a shot on goal.

The Panthers fall to 0-13 on the season and 0-5 in AMCC play. They will return to action this weekend when they travel to Penn State-Altoona to take on the Lions.
