Women's Soccer Scores Early, Falls 3-2 to LaRoche

Pittsburgh, PA -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's soccer team were unable to hold on to an early lead as they allowed a 3 goal second half to LaRoche University, leading to a 3-2 defeat.

The Panther's were able to jump out to an early lead against the Redhawks after a 12th minute Taylor Sutryk goal. Sutryk stole the ball away after a misplayed touch by the LaRoche defense. She dribbled towards the 18-yard box and took a hard left footed shot that beat the keeper to the near post. LaRoche responded to the goal for the remainder of the half, as they outshot the Panthers 11-3 in the last 30 minutes of the period. Goalkeeper Sadie wood made 8 saves in the half to keep Pitt-Bradford in the lead. 

The Redhawks' offensive ouput continued after the break, as they were able to tally 9 more shots in the half, to 5 for the Panthers. They were able to even the game with a goal under a minute after the restart. They took the lead in the 60th minute, and doubled it 7 minutes later. The Panthers were able to pull one back in the final minute of play through another Sutryk goal. She hit a one time shot after a LaRoche defender misplayed a cross from the left flank and put it past the goalkeeper to cut the lead to one. 

Sutryk's brace put her goal tally for the season at 8. She took 5 shots on the day, putting 4 of them on frame. Kiley Tuttle added 2 shots and Maddy Feeser took 1. Wood made 10 saves in the game. The loss drops her record to 3-2 on the season. 

The Panther's record is now 4-13 overall and 2-7 in AMCC play. Their season will come to an end on Tuesday when they face Medaille. The game is scheduled to begin at 4:15 on the Soccer Fields at the Kessel Athletic Complex.
