Panthers Fall at D'Youville

Buffalo, N.Y. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford Women's Soccer team fell behind early against AMCC foe D'Youville College, allowing three goals within the opening 20 minutes. They were unable to overcome the deficit, losing 5-0 to the Spartans.

Playing their first game under the lights in over a month, the Panthers struggled early. Despite putting the first shot of the game on goal, they fell behind just under 6 minutes into the game as the Spartans were able to tap in a cross from the right flank to open the scoring. D'Youville doubled their lead in the 18th minute on a breakaway goal and scored under a minute later to build a three goal advantage. The remainder of the half saw the teams share possession, as Emily Goetz recorded two long distance shots on goal that were both saved.

The Panthers looked to pull closer to the Spartans after the break as they recorded two shots on goal within the first 10 minutes. Jada Luther, Kiley Tuttle and Taylor Sutryk all found the space to take shots in the half, however all of them were stopped by the D'Youville goalkeeper. Failure to take advantage of their scoring opportunities early in the half would only get worse for the Panthers in the late stages of the game as a fresher D'Youville side was able to put away two more goals in the final ten minutes to close the game.

Emily Bethel and Sadie Wood each split time in the net for Pitt-Bradford. Bethel picked up the loss, allowing two goals on 4 shots on goal in under 20 minutes. Wood came on in the 19th minute and allowed 3 goals while making 2 saves. Goetz led the Panthers, taking 3 shots and putting two on target. Tuttle took two shots with both of them finishing on goal.

The Panther's record is now 4-12 with an AMCC record of 2-6. They will return to action this Saturday when they travel to Pittsburgh to take on LaRoche University. Kickoff is slated for 3:15 PM.
