Women's Soccer Shutout by Penn State Behrend

Bradford, Pa -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's soccer team struggled to keep up with Penn State Behrend as they lost their AMCC match-up with the Lions by a score of 4-0.

The Panthers were unable to keep possession of the ball throughout the game, as the defending AMCC champions outshot Pitt-Bradford 21 to 3 throughout the contest. Goalkeeper Emily Bethel did her best to keep the Panthers in the game early, as she made 5 saves on 6 shots on goal in the first half of play, with many of them coming on excellent Penn State Behrend goal scoring opportunities. The lone Panther opportunity came in the 18th minute while the game was still scoreless. Emily Goetz hit a free kick that looked to be heading into the left side netting, only to be tipped away by the Lion goalkeeper for a corner kick. The Lions would respond to the chance minutes later, as they opened the scoring on a strong individual effort from Brenna McGuire 20 minutes in.

The Lions controlled nearly all of the offensive possession in the second half as they were ale to score three more goals on 12 shots. McGuire scored a brace 5 minutes into the second frame, and her teammates put the game away with two quick goals in the 75th and 77th minutes.Bethel made 4 more saves in the second half to bring her toal for the game to 9.

Pitt-Bradford's record moves to 3-10 on the season with a 1-4 record in conference play. They will look to regain winning form on Thursday when they return to Buffalo, NY to play a rescheduled match against Hilbert College. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:00 PM.
