Bradford, PA -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford Women's Soccer team used their highest-scoring game of the season to pick up their third win of the year. They used 4 second-half goals to take down the Alfred State Pioneers by a score of 5-1.
The contest did not start off very well for the Panthers as they found themselves trailing after 12 minutes. Alfred State was able to slide a pass behind the defense to Annaliese Ziemann, who ripped a shot across goal into the far side netting to go up one. Pitt-Bradford did not stay down for long following the goal, as they were able to tie the game up just two and a half minutes later. Kiley Tuttle won a race to a 50-50 ball in the box and was able to pass to a cutting Megan Rose. Rose took the pass on the slide and with one-touch finished to the lower right corner of the goal. Both teams had a few opportunities to score in the remainder of the first half with the Panthers seeing the best chance cleared off the goal line by a Pioneer defender.
After the intermission, the Panthers jumped ahead quickly and never looked back. Just two minutes into the second stanza, Emily Goetz played a pass behind the Alfred State line that found Sutryk alone with the goalie. Sutryk took a shot across goal to the left side netting to score her second of the game. The Panthers did not stop there, however, as they scored a third another two minutes later. This time Cassidy King was able to put a pass behind the defense where Tuttle ran onto it and calmly finished into the right side netting of the goal.
Pitt-Bradford was able to score the 4th goal in the 70th minute. Emily Royea was able to beat a defender on the end line and send a cross in front of goal. Tuttle was able to get a touch and saw the ball continue on to Cassidy Fenner who was able to put the ball in the net for her first of the year. Tuttle finished off the victory with a 5th Panther goal with just under 90 seconds to go. She ripped a shot from approximately 25 yards into the top left corner of the net for her second of the day.
Tuttle finished with 2 goals and 2 assists while taking 5 shots and putting all of them on target. Sutryk was able to out-shoot the Pioneers all on her own, finishing with 11 total shots and 5 on goal. Goalkeeper Emily Bethel picked up her first win of the year with a three save performance.
The Pitt-Bradford women's record is now 3-8 with a 1-2 record in conference play. Their next action will be at home on Saturday when they take on Franciscan. The game will begin at approximately 3:15, or 20-25 minutes after the conclusion of the men's game.
