BRADFORD, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's soccer team dropped a heartbreaker Saturday at a wet, windy Kessel Athletic Complex against Franciscan.

"Today was a heartbreaker," Head Coach Melissa Lincoln said. "I felt as though we had the ball in their half the majority of the game and we had a lot of opportunities, but unfortunately we didn't capitalize on enough of them. It was great to see us tie it up with less than a minute in play, but I was hoping we'd finish it off in overtime."

Down 2-1 in the final minute of the game, Meghan Stuck won a ball deep in Franciscan territory and played in it town the goal.

Courtney Shade collected it, worked her way into space and knocked it into the back of the net to tie the game.

But, after an overtime period, Franciscan found the back of the net three minutes into the second OT period to take the win.

With the result, Pitt-Bradford falls to 3-10-1 overall and 2-4-1 in AMCC action, while Franciscan moves to 5-8 overall and 4-2 in conference play.

The two teams went scoreless for 40 minutes until each team worked its first goal of the game in the final five minutes of the first half.

Franciscan scored first in the 40th minute, but the Panthers answered back in the 43rd minute.

Grace Dadzaa drove down the right side and sent a long, high cross to the left side, finding Julie Barton's head for the goal.

The two teams took a 1-1 draw into the half.

In the 58th minute, the Franciscan keeper was whistled for a yellow card on a scoring opportunity inside the box. As a result, the Panthers were awarded a penalty kick.

Shade stepped in and delivered, giving the Panthers a 2-1 advantage.

Five minutes later, though, Franciscan went on the counter and found the back of the net off a finish after a well-placed through ball up the middle.

The Barons eventually took a 3-2 lead in the 74th minute, as a corner kick ball bounced around then eventually was headed in.

That setup Shade's tying strike, but the Barons were able to complete the win.

Pitt-Bradford controlled the tempo for much of the game, outshooting Franciscan 19-16.

Each keeper was forced to make six saves.

Of the Panthers' nine shots on goal, Shade put three on goal, with Dadzaa and Barton each put a pair on goal. Stuck and Megan Rose put one shot apiece on goal.

Emily Bethel played all 103:55 minutes in goal.

Up next, the Panthers will host Keuka for their non-conference finale Tuesday.
