Panthers Welcome Westminster For Final Contest Before AMCC Action

BRADFORD, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's soccer team will host Westminster (Pa.) Thursday for their final game before starting conference play this weekend.

Pitt-Bradford is coming off a 2-1 setback at Saint Vincent Tuesday.

The Panthers took a 1-0 lead into halftime on an own goal, as a Saint Vincent failed clear attempt found its way into the net.

But Pitt-Bradford was unable to maintain the lead as Saint Vincent scored the equalizer six minutes into the second half off a corner kick.

The Bearcats eventually took the lead just six minutes later in the 57th minute on a drive up the middle and finish.

The Panthers fired four shots in the second half but were unable to put any on goal and find the back of the net to equalize.

Of the Panthers' seven shots, Courtney Shade led the way with three. Meghan ThomasMegan RoseJulie Barton and Katie Keller fired once apiece.

Emily Bethel played all 90 minutes in goal for Pitt-Bradford and made a trio of saves on five total shots sent her way on goal. 

So far this season, Kahlee Bowen, Grace Dadzaa and Meghan Stuck have scored for the Panthers.

Stuck leads the team with 12 shots, and Dadzaa has put the most shots on goal with seven.

In goal, Bethel has played all 545:34 minutes so far this season, the fourth most of any keeper in the AMCC. Her 55 total saves are the second most in the conference.

Westminster comes to town with a 5-2 overall record, picking up wins against AMCC members Penn State-Altoona (Sept. 5), Franciscan (Sept. 12) and La Roche (Sept. 18) along the way. Jocelyn Gillette and Keely Birsic lead the team with three goals apiece. 

Thursday's contest is set to begin at 4 p.m.
