Panthers Can't Hold First Half Lead At Saint Vincent

LATROBE, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's soccer team took on Saint Vincent in a non-conference road game Tuesday evening.

The Bearcats (4-2) defeated the Panthers (1-5), 2-1, in the contest.

"Bottom line, we spoke at halftime about what we need to fix in the second half," Head Coach Melissa Lincoln said. "But we did not do it. Tonight's game should have been a win."

The Panthers took a 1-0 lead into halftime on an own goal, as a Saint Vincent failed clear attempt found its way into the net.

But Pitt-Bradford was unable to maintain the lead as Saint Vincent scored the equalizer six minutes into the second half off a corner kick.

The Bearcats eventually took the lead just six minutes later in the 57th minute on a drive up the middle and finish.

The Panthers fired four shots in the second half but were unable to put any on goal and find the back of the net to equalize.

Of the Panthers' seven shots, Courtney Shade led the way with three. Meghan Thomas, Megan Rose, Julie Barton and Katie Keller fired once apiece.

Emily Bethel played all 90 minutes in goal for Pitt-Bradford and made a trio of saves on five total shots sent her way on goal.

The Panther defense made a save on a ball destined for the net as well.

Pitt-Bradford will return home once more before AMCC action starts this weekend as the Panthers welcome Westminster (Pa.) Thursday for a 4 p.m. start.
