BRADFORD, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's soccer team hosted tough competition Saturday as Alfred came to the Kessel Athletic Complex for a non-conference matchup.

The Saxons (5-1) earned the shutout win, 2-0, over the Panthers (1-4).

"Always tough to lose at home, but Alfred was definitely fast up top and created some trouble for us," Head Coach Melissa Lincoln said. "Emily played another great game in net. It's great to see her really stepping up. We've got some work to do and hopefully, we'll turn things around for ourselves Tuesday at St. Vincent."

The two teams hung tough and put together a scoreless first half.

Alfred outshot the Panthers, 14-5, in the first half. Three of the Panthers' five attempts went on goal, though.

Nine minutes into the second half, Alfred broke the silence with its first goal of the contest.

Then in the 73rd minute, Alfred doubled its lead with a strike in front of the net off a cross from the right side.

Pitt-Bradford had a chance to cut into the deficit in the 83rd minute, though, as Meghan Stuck fired a shot off the crossbar.

In goal, Emily Bethel made nine saves on 13 shots on goal. The Panther defense came through with a pair of saves on loose balls destined for the back of the net.

Stuck made up half of the Panthers' eight total shots in the contest -- putting three on net.

Jade Adams, Julie Barton, Kahlee Bowen and Meghan Thomas all recorded shots for the Panthers as well.

Up next, the Panthers will head to St. Vincent Tuesday before hosting Westminster Thursday,
