HOUGHTON, N.Y. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's soccer team fell at Houghton, 4-0, Wednesday night.

"Houghton was a strong team and their offense was fast," Head Coach Melissa Lincoln said. "We played hard and didn't stop working. We had a couple opportunities to score, but unfortunately didn't find the back of the net tonight."

With the setback, the Panthers move to 1-3 on the season.

Houghton outshot the Panthers, 26-7.

Jade Adams led the way for Pitt-Bradford with four shots, putting a pair on goal.

Grace Dadzaa, Courtney Shade and Madison Feeser recorded shots as well.

The Pitt-Bradford offense forced the Houghton keeper to make four saves.

Emily Bethel played all 90 minutes in goal for the Panthers, making 16 saves -- a new career high for the freshman. 

"Emily had a great game tonight," Lincoln said of her keeper. "She made multiple big saves and this is the best I've seen her play yet. She saved us on multiple occasions, making a ton of saves tonight."

The Highlanders wasted no time getting on the board, scoring 2:35 into the contest.

Houghton then got two quick goals in the ninth and 12th minutes, eventually taking a 3-0 lead into halftime.

A goal in the 57th minute rounded out the scoring for Houghton.

Up next, the Panthers will return to the Kessel Athletic Complex Saturday to host Alfred. Kickoff is set for 12 p.m. and will be the first part of a doubleheader with the men's team.
