Panthers Women's, Men's Soccer To Host Thiel For Labor Day Doubleheader

BRADFORD, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's and men's soccer teams will host Thiel Monday at the Kessel Athletic Complex.

The women's game will begin the doubleheader at 12 p.m, while the men's team will play its first home game of the season after around 2:15 p.m.

The Pitt-Bradford women's team was defeated in its season opener Friday against Dickinson. 

Grace Dadzaa found the back of the net off a feed from Julie Barton to make up the Panther offense for the contest.

Freshman Emily Bethel started in goal for Pitt-Bradford. She saved 10 shots in her collegiate debut.

The Panther men split its first two games of 2018, falling to Bluffton Friday before defeating Muskingum 3-1 Saturday in the Appalachian Soccer Showcase.

Freshman Chase Rider lifted the Panthers to victory with his first two goals of his collegiate career against Muskingum. 

Ryuta Hayakawa assisted Rider's first goal and also scored on a penalty kick in the first half.

Sihle Sizani played all 90 minutes in goal for the Panthers, making three saves and earning the first victory of his career.

The Thiel women's soccer team fell to AMCC rival Franciscan in its opener, 7-0, while the Thiel men defeated Franciscan, 3-2.

Spectator note: Due to construction on the Pitt-Bradford outdoor tennis courts, no bleacher seating will be available. All spectators are asked to please respect the area restricted behind caution tape and to enjoy the game from the grass hill along the sideline.
