Dadzaa Scores In Panthers 2018 Debut

BRADFORD, Pa. -- Grace Dadzaa took a feed from Julie Barton in front of the net and finished early in the first half to score the first goal of the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's soccer 2018 season.

However, Dickinson captured the victory in the season opener, 7-1, on a humid, sunny afternoon at the Kessel Athletic Complex Friday.

"Not the way we wanted to start the season, but Dickinson is definitely a quality team with a lot a depth," Head Coach Melissa Lincoln said. "I was pleased to see Grace find the back of the net."

The Red Devils started 2018 fast, grabbing a pair of quick goals in the 11th and 13th minutes.

Several more drives down the field led to successful strikes, and the Red Devils took a 6-0 lead into the half.

But just over 10 minutes into the second half, the Panther offense worked a commanding drive down the field, creating traffic in front of the net.

A redirected touch from Barton found Dadzaa, who placed the ball low toward the bottom-left corner, putting the Panthers on the board.

Dickinson answered within the minute, though, and brought the score to the eventual 7-1 final.

Freshman Emily Bethel made her first career start in goal for the Panthers. She made five saves in each half for 10 saves in her debut.

All 16 field players on the Panthers' roster saw time in the season opener.

Pitt-Bradford will stay home and be in action Monday for a Labor Day doubleheader with the Panthers men's team against Thiel. Kickoff is set for 12 p.m.
