Panthers Work Scoreless Draw At D'Youville In Season Finale

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's soccer team worked a scoreless 0-0 draw in its regular season finale at D'Youville Tuesday in an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference match.

"This was a heartbreaking game," Head Coach Melissa Lincoln said. "I'm thankful for all the hard work and dedication that was put into this season, and I want to thank the seniors for everything they've poured into this program for the past four years."

The two teams had their chances early, as the Panthers fired five total shots in the first half and forced the D'Youville keeper to make three saves.

The Spartans tested the Panthers' keeper twice but Sarah Dailey made a pair of saves in the half to keep them out of the net.

Pitt-Bradford controlled much of the offense in the second half, outshooting the Spartans, 8-4.

But – with the help of three more Sarah Dailey saves – the Panthers held D'Youville scoreless and the two teams went into overtime.

In the first overtime period, the Panthers piled on the shots, firing seven total in the 10-minute period.

Of the seven shots, six went on goal, but the D'Youville keeper made all six saves.

Then in the second overtime, the Panthers fired three more shots but could not convert, as the 0-0 tie stood.

Dailey was credited with her sixth shutout of the season after tonight's game, which is the fourth-most of any keeper in the AMCC.

Delaney Houtz and Kaitlyn Williams led the way for the Panthers with six shots apiece. Abby Celesky fired four while Courtney Shade had three of her own. In all, the Panthers had 23 as a team.

Of her six total shots, Williams put five on goal. Houtz put three on net, while Shade had a pair of shots on goal. Meghan Thomas and Celeksy registered a shot on goal apiece.

With the decision, the Panthers finished their season 8-8-2 overall and 3-4-2 in AMCC matches.
