BRADFORD, Pa. – The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's soccer team narrowly fell to Mount Aloysius, 1-0, Saturday in the team's last regular-season match at the Kessel Athletics Complex.

"We needed that win today," Head Coach Melissa Lincoln said. "That was a big loss for us. We had our chances and we needed to capitalize on them but we didn't."

Prior to the start of the game, seniors Sarah Dailey, Delaney Houtz, Kaitlyn Donnelly, Kaitlyn Williams, Abby Celesky, Abbey Kalin and Abbie Bradshaw were honored for their time as Pitt-Bradford student-athletes. 

The two teams battled for an aggressive, competitive first half.

13 minutes into the game, the Panthers missed an early goal by mere inches. Meghan Stuck fired a shot from just inside the box that sailed past the keeper and hit the crossbar, landing in front of the goal and traveling back into the field of play.

Just 38 seconds before halftime, Kaitlyn Williams was fouled inside the box and was awarded a penalty kick.

She lined up and fired it toward the left post low, and the Mount Aloysius keeper made a diving save to keep the ball out of the net.

Pitt-Bradford earned a corner kick as a result, but the Panthers failed to put a strike on goal and the two teams went into halftime with the scoreless tie.

The Panthers fired four shots on goal in the first half and held the Mounties to just one. Pitt-Bradford outshot the Mounties, 9-1, in total.

Pitt-Bradford also had five corner kick opportunities in the half.

Mount Aloysius came out strong in the second half, creating more chances than in the first.

At the 74:32 mark, the Mounties broke the silence as a pass from the left side found the head of Jordan Gebhart, who knocked it into the back of the net.

Pitt-Bradford pressed the rest of the way, forcing the Mounties' keeper to make a pair of saves down the stretch, but the 1-0 score would eventually hold. 

In total, the Panthers forced the Mount Aloysius keeper to make eight saves – four in each half. 

Williams put four shots on goal while Courtney Shade had a pair and Celesky and Grace Dadzaa had one apiece. 

Dailey made four total saves in goal on the five shots on goal she faced.

With the loss, Pitt-Bradford is now 3-4-1 in AMCC play, holding the sixth playoff spot at present time.

The Panthers will wrap up their 2017 regular season on Tuesday at D'Youville.
