Panther Women, D'Youville Play to 1-1 Draw

The Pitt-Bradford women's soccer team and D'Youville played to a 1-1 draw Tuesday in double-overtime. It was the regular season finale for both teams.

For the Panthers, it was a disappointing result and squandered any chance at possibly sneaking into a first-round bye for the conference postseason tournament.

With the tie and Pitt-Greensburg's win over Penn State Altoona, the Panthers will host La Roche Saturday in the opening round.

The only goals came on penalty kicks, with the Panthers' Abby Celesky converting in the 72nd minute and the Spartans' Terra Juda matching her in the 81st minute.

Pitt-Bradford dominated possession in the opening stanza but failed to capitalize after outshooting the visitors 7-2. The Panthers' best chance came in the 17th minute yet Courtney Shade lost her footing in front of the net, slipping before having a chance to finish Kaitlyn Donnelly's centering pass.

In the first overtime period, goalkeeper Sarah Dailey made consecutive saves to prevent D'Youville from scoring the game-winning goal, and Jasmine Adams' attempt at a golden goal in double-overtime was stopped.

Pitt-Bradford outshot the Spartans 16-14 and held a 4-0 advantage in corner kicks. Dailey recorded eight saves in net.

The Panthers finish the regular season 8-5-3 and will turn their attention to the AMCC postseason tournament.
