Visiting Gators Stun Panther Women in Double OT

Allegheny scored the game-tying goal with 72 seconds remaining in regulation and won in double-overtime to stun the Pitt-Bradford women's soccer team Saturday, 3-2.

Pitt-Bradford trailed 1-0 at the break before drawing even in the 74th minute. Abbey Kalin sent a ball directly through two defenders and Grace Dadzaa finished for her first goal of the season, curling in a shot from the top of the box. Moments later, Sarah Dailey stuffed an Allegheny penalty kick attempt to keep the score tied. Re-energized, the Panthers continued to press, applying pressure to the Gators' backline.

In the 85th minute, Kaitlyn Donnelly sent a pass over the top of the defense, Courtney Shade won a footrace to the ball and chipped it in over Allegheny's Colleen Fleming to push the Panthers ahead 2-1. The lead would be short lived, though. Jessie Thiessen beat Dailey to the ball with 1:12 remaining and tapped it in to level the match.

Allegheny controlled the pace of play in overtime, managing to register five shot attempts to the Panthers' one. Dailey came up with a big stop in the first overtime period, and Taylor Renk's shot from outside the box struck the crossbar to start the second overtime. The Gators earned a corner kick in the 107th minute and Thiessen won possession in front of the net, finishing in the far corner to complete the comeback.

Allegheny outshot Pitt-Bradford 16-6 and held a 6-3 advantage in corner kicks. Dailey finished with eight saves in net.

Pitt-Bradford drops to 2-3-1 on the year and hosts Elmira Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.
