Panthers Find a Way to Win at LaRoche

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Finding a way to win when you're not at your best is a common trait among all good teams. The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford (5-6, 3-0) did just that in a 2-0 victory at La Roche (5-3, 2-1) on Saturday afternoon.

Maggie Boehler and Grace Dadzaa each scored one goal, while Sarah Dailey posted nine saves to earn her third shutout of the season in goal.

"We learned a lot about our character today as a team," said Pitt-Bradford head coach Mike Idland. "To be honest, we weren't very good in the game, but we found a way to grind out a positive result anyway."

Boehler scored on a penalty kick in the 64th minute, breaking a scoreless tie and giving Pitt-Bradford all the offense it would need to capture the victory.

Dadzaa then put the game away with a goal in the final minute of play, securing the 2-0 victory.

"Sarah Dailey, Jamie Christensen, and Bethany Carpenter were all very steady in the back, and that gave us a chance to go and take the game at the other end of the field," Idland said. "We'll have to be better as we continue through conference play, but it's important to be able to win even when you're not playing well."

The Panthers continue conference play Wednesday at 3 p.m. against Penn State Behrend (6-5, 3-0) at the Kessel Athletic Complex.
