Williams' Hat Tricks Leads Panthers to Victory in AMCC Opener

STEUBENVILLE, Oh. – The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's soccer team opened AMCC play with a dominating, 4-0, victory at Franciscan on Saturday afternoon.

"Today was an excellent game for us," said Pitt-Bradford head coach Mike Idland. "We played a very complete match. I thought we handled all of the routine plays better than we have all season, and we really rose to the occasion on the biggest plays of the game."

Kaitlyn Williams led the Panther's relentless offensive attack with three goals. Delaney Houtz chipped in with one goal while Kaitlyn Donnelly and Courtney Shade added an assist. Sarah Dailey picked up her second shutout of the season in goal, posting six saves.

"I'm thrilled for Kait Williams, who has really taken on a lot of responsibility for our team in the attack," Idland said. "All three of her goals were on beautiful plays."

Williams started the scoring spree in the 40th minute and then extended the Pitt-Bradford lead to 2-0 just 90 seconds later, heading in a cross from Shade.

Williams and Houtz each found the back of the net in the second half to put the game out of reach for the Barons.

"Now the test for our team is establishing consistency in our performance throughout the conference schedule," Idland said.

The Pitt-Bradford women's soccer team returns to action Tuesday at 1 p.m. against Medaille at the Kessel Athletic Complex.
