Panthers Come Up Just Short in 1-0 Loss at Allegheny

MEADVILLE, Pa. - The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's soccer team came up just short in a 1-0 loss at Allegheny University on Wednesday afternoon.

"Although we didn't get the result we wanted, I was pleased with how we played today," said Pitt-Bradford head coach Mike Idland. "It was probably the best we've played all season, against arguably the best team we've seen all season."

The Gators finished the game with 20 total shots, but only three of those were on goal. The Panthers added four shots on goal, including a team-high two shots on goal from Kaitlynn Donnelly. Maggie Boehler and Julie Barton added shots on goal, while Sarah Dailey tallied two saves in the loss.

Hannah Smith scored the only goal of the game for the Gators, knocking in a corner in the 60th minute.

With the tough non-conference slate now behind them, the Panthers are set to open conference play Saturday at 1 p.m. at Franciscan.

"I'm confident that our team's mentality is strong enough to take the experience gained from this non-conference schedule and transfer it into winning performances week in, week out during our upcoming conference play," Idland said.
